Houston Landing is dedicated to listening to our neighbors and ensuring your concerns drive our coverage; that your questions get asked, and answered; and that your needs are met.

So join us for our next Community Newsroom Monday night, a thoughtful conversation on HISD and the TEA takeover, featuring editor Jacob Carpenter and reporter Asher Lehrer-Small. This is how we make sure student voices are centered, coverage is balanced and decision makers are held accountable.

“The staff were incredibly welcoming and made me feel so warm,” said a previous Community Newsroom attendee. (We didn’t take pictures or record the names of all attendees so people could feel like they were able to speak freely.)

At this free, informal event, you’ll get a chance to meet newsroom leaders including Editor-In-Chief Manny García and Managing Editor Angel Rodríguez, as well as Chief of Development Kaneisha Lloyd.

“These conversations are at the heart of our journalism, and they’re one of our key differentiators – truly listening and being responsive to our audiences,” García said. “Jacob and Asher are experts on education coverage and will provide great perspective.”
