Join Houston Landing Tuesday, April 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the BakerRipley Aldine Campus for our next community newsroom event. Doors open at 6 p.m., when the Houston Landing education will welcome you.
Community Newsrooms are events designed to give our journalists a chance to listen to the feedback of our neighbors and integrate these insights to ensure our reporting is accurate, relevant and grounded in lived experience. Previously, our education team hosted conversations at Julia C. Hester House, Heights Neighborhood Library, and Acres Homes Multi-Service Center.
This event will be fully accessible in both English and Spanish. Attendees are encouraged to participate in their preferred language, as bilingual staff will facilitate discussions and provide translation services where needed.
These sessions have sparked changes such as the “Answer Key” Q&A feature and more visual data in stories, like our coverage around Aldine ISD leadership challenges.
We want to know what matters most to you, from classroom concerns to district leadership to student well-being. You’ll be able to connect directly with education editor Jacob Carpenter and two of our Aldine ISD reporters:
- Brooke Kushwaha, who covers Aldine, Alief, Pasadena and Spring ISDs, with a focus on education access, equity and holding school leaders accountable
- Angelica Perez, who covers multiple school districts around Greater Houston, including Aldine ISD, and reports on bilingual education, student voices and community engagement.
Everyone is welcome. This is your space to speak freely about what’s working, what’s not and what’s missing in education coverage.
